We appreciate the great turn-out and were happy to have mother nature cooperate with us which allowed everyone to enjoy the incredible setting.

Blair’s World Famous Sliders were accompanied by Kenny’s Bbq pizza, both greatly enjoyed by our guests. The beautiful table spread with gourmet cheeses, and an unbelievable fresh guacamole and chips and salsa made this a foodies paradise.

As a special treat, we were joined by Ron and Eileen Pardini, Urban Village Farmers Markets that brought nectarines, peaches, plums and grapes to share with all. The fruit was exceptional!

My Uncle Jeff and his wife Pam brought their newly released Frantoio Grove Olive Oil and surprised us by how delicious their beautiful oil paired with ice cream!

The atmosphere was complete with the music of singer and guitar player Jim Steinke filling the air.

On a rain soaked late October afternoon, Toby Lane Vineyards debuted its newest offerings at Chalk Hill Ranch to a small group of family and friends. The proprietors, Charlie Martin and his son Blair poured their 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, all estate grown on the family’s hillside vineyard that is tucked into a secluded valley in the southern Alexander Valley just two miles east of Chalk Hill Road. They also poured their Estate grown 2008 Merlot. Charlie and Blair work with Ames Morrison and Chris Christensen of Medlock Ames gravity flow winery next door to produce their well crafted wines. Only a small amount of the Merlot was available and they sold out on the spot. It was that tasty.

“Our family motto is fine wine begins with superb soil and exceptional grapes,” said Charlie. And fine wine it is.

Family is a key element of Toby Lane. The tasting took place at the family home, the former estate of Charles Schultz. Charlie’s mom Willie (Blair’s grandmother) roamed the grounds in her golf cart in the downpour to make sure everything was in place. Various family members and friends helped pour, sell wine, BBQ sliders and keep the water from building under our feet due to the downpour. Toby Lane Vineyards makes its home on the beautiful rolling hills of Chalk Hill Ranch where the Martin family have been growing grapes for the past 30 years. Toby Lane wines are new to the market, but worth seeking out. They have limited availability so hit their website (www.tobylanevineyards.com) for all the details. In the dining world, you can find them locally served at Il Fornaio restaurants in Palo Alto and Corte Madera with more locations on the way.

October 23^rd was a great day of celebration for the Toby Lane family!

Friends, family and colleagues warmed the day and warmed our hearts with their pioneer spirit to drive through the first major storm of the season to join us in the inaugural pouring of our estate 2008 Merlot and 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Friends made new friends and shared the afternoon snacking on great cheeses, homemade antipasto and over 150 sliders! 

To our delight, we sold out of the Merlot and our guests purchased over 20 cases of the Cab. Orders continue to come in as a result of our guests sharing their wine with their friends and loved ones.
